Social Distancing at Woolworths
Woolworths have introduced a number of measures to make stores a safer place to shop and help maintain an appropriate distance from each other while in store. These measures include:
A limit to the number of customers in store at any one time: As the stores become busier, Woolworths may need to limit the number of customers shopping in store to help maintain appropriate 1.5m between each other.
Sanitise or wash your hands before you come into store: Customer sanitiser stations are now at the entrance of both Woolworths Supermarkets.
Use your trolley as a distance guide between each other: If you want a sense of what 1.5m looks like, imagine slightly more than a trolley length between yourself and the next person.
Follow the floor markings throughout the store: When you arrive, you’ll see that there are markers on the floor to help assist with social distancing. These can be found throughout the store as reminders, as well as those locations where you may be required to queue like the fresh service counters and checkouts.
Please pack your own bags at the checkout: At the checkout, you may also be asked to you pack any bags you’ve brought from home to help minimise handling. If you need to purchase a new bag, the Woolworths team members will be happy to pack these for you.
Use tap and pay wherever possible: Woolworths encourage you to use your card or phone to tap and pay instead of cash, whenever possible.
Additional measures Woolworths have introduced to help keep customers and team safer:
- The Woolworths store greeter will wipe down basket and trolley handles, and answer any questions about recent changes, such as updated opening hours and product limit information.
- At the full service checkouts Woolworths have installed plexiglass screens as an additional safeguard. Woolworths team members are also rotating every two hours, to ensure that face-to-face interactions are minimised where possible.
- Woolworths have also looked to close some registers in the assisted and express checkouts to encourage social distancing in these areas.
