In 2017, 11 November marks the 99th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18). At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the moment when hostilities ceased, is now marked with one minute’s silence, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. “At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.”
