WHO IS LIFE-GATE INC.?
Life-Gate Inc. is a local charity passionate about empowering youth and families to overcome crisis and reach their full potential in life. Life-Gate Inc. provides counselling, life skills training, student placement and outreach programs such as MEALS FOR CHANGE and STREET OUTREACH within our local Frankston community.
MEALS FOR CHANGE
The Life-Gate Inc. ‘MEALS FOR CHANGE’ mobile kitchen trailer provides meals, basic material aid and on-the-spot counselling for those who are homeless or living in crisis situations. It is volunteer run and operates every Friday evening for seven hours at 3 locations within Frankston.
THE BEATING HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY
Over the past year Life-Gate Inc. has assisted over 1875 community members with free counselling, life-skills training, family support, meals assistance and outreach. Last year forced the closure of Life-Gate’s mobile kitchen due to COVID and while they were able to adapt to home delivery, they will be reopening the trailer for the first time in over a year, next month! During the pandemic, volunteers cooked more than 2,500 meals and delivered them to the homes of our community’s most isolated and vulnerable members.
Each night, their MEALS FOR CHANGE trailer provides meals for up to 75 people. Requests for meals assistance and basic hygiene items in their Kindness Kits more than tripled as a result of the pandemic.
